Kim is a local spinner and knitting guru. She has been an instructor at our annual Weaving & Fiber Arts Weekend for the past several years, and now is joining our weekend staff to instruct classes in Knitting, Crocheting, and Spinning. She is a member Nezinscot Guild and produces the majority of the hand-knit sweaters found in our studio.

Kim McArthur lives in Augusta with her husband of 29 years and has two children. A son age 26 and daughter age 24. Kim also has a 6-year-old grandson. Kim enjoys knitting and is constantly working on a project taking her craft everywhere she goes, such as riding in the car, visiting family and friends, or watching television. Kim has been knitting for over 20 years and is able to make anything from yarn.

Kim is very involved with spinning over the past 10 years. Kim learned to spin from a friend going to spinning groups and attending local fairs. Kim demonstrates spinning and knitting at local fairs, demonstrations, and especially enjoys teaching children. Kim says, “spinning takes a lot of practice and can be frustrating when first starting out.” Kim describes spinning as relaxing and fun.

Kim talents also include crochet, sewing, and counter-cross stitch.  Outside fiber arts, Kim works as a cook/baker at an Alzheimer’s care unit in Augusta.
