Meet the Interns
Zelda Mazon-Freedman
Zelda Mazor-Freedman is a fiber artist and writer from Long Beach, California. Over the past four years, she has worked to earn a bachelor’s degree in Literature from Bard College. She uses needle felting and wet felting techniques to make work that is engaged with narrative, puppets, costumes, and dolls. interest in wearable art, Zelda is making full body sculptures to be worn and performed in. Interested in the categorical definitions of art, and the social histories that substantiate them, this project troubles the bounds between costuming, fashion, and craft, to explore how historically feminine
Celia Shaheen
Celia Shaheen is an artist, curator, and student currently based in Austin, Texas, where
she studies studio art, art history, and museum studies at the University of Texas at
Austin. Her studio practice oscillates at the intersection of archiving and making, utilizing
materials across the spectrum of photography, printmaking, bookmaking, and textiles to
investigate and discuss feminist labor and craft, Lebanese culinary traditions, folklore,
(an)archival impulses, and affectionate documents. Shaheen is a curator with the Center
Space Project, and has worked at the Harry Ransom Center on projects related to
digitization, provenance and footprint research, and artist book cataloging. She was a
2016-2018 Mellon Undergraduate Curatorial Fellow at the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston, where she worked in the photography department on projects related to
exhibition research and design, collection cataloging, and developing archival
workshops.
