CSF - Community Supported Farming

The big Idea:

A traditional CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) works when community members invest sums of money into their local farms, and receive a product, or range of products in return. For some, this can be a seasonal veggies box, a selection of breads & dairy products, or exist as a token system for choosing from a large pool of items created at that farm.  At Nezinscot, our CSA operates as a reloadable gift card that applies to the entire farm store. That includes groceries, bakery items, meals, dry goods, paper goods, woven / knit items, produce, canned goods, our dairy and meats, and so much more.

CSF vs. CSA

A CSF is a term we coined here at Nezinscot; It’s different from a traditional CSA in that, instead of using your money to support a farm, you’re using your time & energy. This is a volunteer-stipended position that allows people to get hands-on with their local farms. Volunteer on our own, as a group, or as a family! (Stipends/benefits do change slightly for family units with children)

Our CSF members help in the following areas weekly:

– Making jams, preserves, canning vegetables, and pickles

– Processing dried herbs into teas

– Making salves, lotions,

– Making & packaging cheeses

– Planting & weeding the gardens and greenhouses

– Seasonal animal processing: Chickens, rabbits, ducks, etc.

Suggested Time Commitment: 6 hours

Stipend: $60

Other benefits:

– 10% off store items

– Free meal & beverage

– Aiding farmers by taking part in your local food economy!
